Our Verdict

Nice little bonus. Save this on the same card that has the $5 off $15 AmEx Offer if you got them both on the same card. Remember to link your Marriott account with UberEats to get 2,000 bonus points. Always use a promo code on UberEats orders, if eligible. Use Dosh for 5.5% back. Save this AmEx Offer on your Platinum card, if you have one, since it’ll stack with your $15 monthly Uber credit or on your Gold card for the $10 monthly benefit; might work in conjunction with the Hilton, Delta, and Marriott card statement credits as well. Some AmEx cardholders get a free Eats Pass as well.

AmEx Offers: UberEats, Spend $15 & Get $5 Statement Credit (Can Be Done 5 Times)

The Offer

Check your AmEx Offer for the following deal:

  • Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $15 or more online at ubereats.com or on the Uber Eats mobile app by 6/30/2021. Limit of 5 statement credits (total of $25). See terms for exclusions.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid online only for purchases made on ubereats.com or through the Uber Eats: Food Delivery Network mobile app. Valid only on US website and US mobile app.
  • Taxes, Delivery Fee and Service Fee still apply.
  • Excludes gift card purchases.
  • Excludes authorized retailers.
  • Limit of 5 statement credits (total of $25 back) per Card Member.
  • The enrolled Card account must not be cancelled or past due to receive statement credits.
  • Any benefit earned from this offer is in addition to the rewards (i.e. Membership Rewards or cash back) earned as part of your existing Card benefits, but your ability to earn spend-based rewards for the purchase will be based on the amount after any statement credit or other discount is applied.

Our Verdict

This offer could be useful. Remember, AmEx offers are triggered based on the total spend, so whatever your total is after all promotions, taxes, tips, etc, should work to trigger the AmEx Offer credit (unless the charge gets somehow split into two).

Save this offer on the same card that has the offer for 3x bonus points if you have them both on the same card.

Plastiq Now Allows American Express Card for Business & Professional Services and more

American Express has expanded the types of payments they allow for use with the Plastiq bill payment service. Previously they only allowed things like taxes, tuition, and rent. They’ve now added many types of business payments for professional services, business services, construction, and select inventory payments.

Plastiq users have always been able to pay for certain bills with an American Express card. But now, you can now use it even more for expenses like:

  • Professional and business services
  • Construction
  • Wholesale inventory

Make sure to check out the full list for specifics on what you can pay for with AMEX and Plastiq. If you have an American Express card, these new options should help you keep more cash on hand and better manage your finances.

They have a really exhaustive list at that link showing various types of payments and which ones are allowed with which payment type. It seems that many business payments are still not allowed, e.g. paying your gardener or graphic designer. Yet many business payments are now allowed, such as paying your contractor, computer programmer, exterminator, lawyer, accountant, and paying for select types of inventory purchases.

These additions will be extremely useful to some. We’ll update our Plastiq review with this change. You can find full details on Plastiq in our original Plastiq review.

You can also trade in any other Echo device and get a further 25% off. If you trade in an Echo dot you’ll get a $5 Amazon credit and 25% off, making it $70. Some people are eligible to purchase the Echo dot for $5 currently as well. Reviews for the first gen of echo buds weren’t great, hopefully these are better.

The Offer

No direct link to offer, target offer sent out via snail mail

  • Chase is offering a bonus of up to $2,000 on the Chase Ink Business Unlimited. Bonus is broken down as follows:

    • Earn $1,500 after spending a total of $50,000 in the first six months of account opening

Card Details

Our Verdict

If you spent a total of $50,000 you’d earn $2,000/200,000 points from the sign up bonus and then another $750/75,000 points from the standard 1.5x earning rate. Works out to be 5.5x per dollar spent. Great deal if you’re a big spender and can hit the minimum spend requirements. Standard bonus on this card is $500 after $3,000 in spend.

Plaza Premium Lounges Will No Longer Accept Priority Pass Starting July 1st

Plaza Premium Lounges has announced that starting July 1st, 2021 they will no longer accept Priority Pass or Lounge Key members. Plaza Premium operates over 120 lounges, so this is a significant loss for Priority Pass. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Plaza Premium lounges exit Priority Pass, for example the Indian lounges were no longer accepting Priority Pass and then started accepting them again.

It looks like some individual lounges might still be accessible via Priority Pass, but that list of lounges is currently not available and it’s not clear if that will actually be the case or not. I also wouldn’t be surprised if this was a contract dispute that we see sorted by July 1st or if Plaza Premium lounges get readded in the future.

It’s possible to access these lounges without Priority Pass but fees range from $50 to $65. It also wouldn’t surprise me if a U.S. based credit card issuer made a direct deal with Plaza Premium to give cardmembers access.
