Drop: Get $75 With Farmer’s Dog Order ($92 Moneymaker with Chase Offer)

The Offer

  • Drop app is offering 75,000 points (worth $75 in gift cards) when placing an order with thefarmersdog.com.

The Fine Print

  • Points will post within 8 days, guaranteed

Our Verdict

Reader b. sent this in, noting that they found it under the Pets category in Drop. They also note being able to buy some beef for just $17.50 (more details here) which should result in a $67.50 moneymaker (minus sales tax). Readers note that you can also get $25 back with a Chase Offer/Bank Amerideal if you were targeted and save that offer, so it should turn out to be a $92.50 moneymaker. Also, link the card to Trueblue for additional rewards.

Could be worth doing for the moneymaker, and certainly a terrific deal for someone with a pet who can make use of the order. I can’t seem to find this in my Drop, so it might be targeted or I’m just missing it somehow.

The Offer

Check your Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards login for one of the following offers:

  • Get 10 points per dollar (worth at least 10% back) on your first grocery store purchase. Max 4,000 points ($40).
  • Get 10 points per dollar (worth at least 10% back) on your first restaurant purchase. Max 4,000 points ($40).

  • Get 10 points per dollar (worth at least 10% back) on your first gas purchase. Max 4,000 points ($40).

The Fine Print

  • Must activate offer to qualify.
  • (First purchase only – check the terms)
  • Expires August 31, 2019.
  • Grocery offer is valid in-store or online.
  • Grocery stores exclude warehouse clubs and supercenters.
  • Bonus Cash Rewards will be added to your Rewards Account within 30 days of purchase.

Our Verdict

10% back at grocery stores and gas stations is great. It should work based on whatever Visa codes as Grocery or Gas; you can check the Visa Supplier Locator for specific locations. Max this out with a $400 in purchases.

Similar offer was around in June; though that one was for 15% back. I believe last month’s offer was able to be used across multiple shopping trips, this one should be the same.

The Fine Print

  • To receive the business checking bonus:

    • 2) Deposit $1,000 or more in new money into your new checking account within 10 business days of account opening; and
    • 3) Maintain at least $1,000 balance for 60 days from the date of deposit. The new money cannot be funds held by Chase or its affiliates.

  • Checking offer is not available to existing Chase business checking clients, local, state or federal Government entities or agencies, Not for Profit organizations, Political Action Committees, or those with fiduciary accounts, campaign accounts, or whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance.
  • If the checking account is closed by the client or Chase within six months after opening, we will deduct the bonus amount for that account at closing.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Chase Total Business Checking $15 Monthly Fee

Chase Total Business Checking has no monthly fee when you maintain a daily minimum balance of $1,500 or more. Otherwise a $15 Monthly Service Fee will apply ($12 Monthly Service Fee when enrolled in Paperless Statements). This is the easiest account to keep fee free.

Other ways to waive the fee: if you maintain a linked Chase Private Client Checking or Chase Premier Platinum Checking personal account or if you are military/veteran. Reports indicate that Chase usually waives the fee for the first couple months.

Early Account Termination Fee

Accounts need to be kept open for a minimum of six months; otherwise, the bonus will be forfeited.

  • Update 01/12/18:  $300Bonus is back and valid until February 22nd, 2018. Thanks to blueeyes_austin. Keep in mind some people are being targeted for a 30,000 UR offer as well.

Our Verdict

Chase has offered bonuses of up to $500 on business checking accounts in the past. You can get one business checking bonus every two years now (used to be once per calendar). Keep in mind you also need to have keep your account open for six months. Because the $500 bonus is coming around frequently I won’t add this one to the list of the best business checking bonuses. Hurrying is less of an issue now with the two year language. But remember to decide for yourself if it makes sense to wait or not.

If you go in branch to open this account, it’s also worth asking if you have any pre-approved credit card offers, as these by pass the Chase 5/24 rule (more on these offers here).

Apply for a new Target REDcard Debit/Credit and Get $50 off $100 Shopping Trip (1/17-2/21)

Update 1/17/21: Deal is back for 1/17/21 – 12/21/21. Hat tip to reader ieatdogfood

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Get a coupon for $50 off a $100 qualifying purchase when you are approved for a debit or credit REDcard in-stores and at Target.com, valid from August 2 – August 15

Our Verdict

Previous offers can be viewed here. We recently saw $40 off $40. This is a bigger savings but also much bigger minimum spend requirement. This is obviously a bigger savings but minimum spend requirement is also much higher. Go through Swagbucks for an additional $4 back. There’s no hard pull for the debit card.

Our Verdict

The standard Merrill Edge offer is to get between $100-$600; with this offer it’s $100-$1,000. It’s been a really long time since we’ve seen this offer publicly (I believe it was end of 2016); since then we’ve seen similar offers targeted to those who attended a specific expo or a slightly worse $900 offer. This one looks like an ordinary public offer with a public landing page which anyone can do by entering the promo code.

Truth be told, Merrill agents might always be able to apply this $1,000 offer manually, but it’s easier to do when it’s a public online offer and you don’t have to make requests. Note that the standard $600 bonus offer only requires holding the funds there for 90 days while this $1k offer requires 180 days. Another note: if my memory serves me right, when I did a Merrill bonus a number of years ago, I did not get a 1099 form for the bonus (despite the terms).

There are lots of brokerage bonuses, but an additional reason a lot of us are interested in using Merrill Edge is due to their Preferred Rewards structure which can give you a regular 2.62% earnings on all spend and other nice earning opportunities. The 2.62% rate works both on the Premium Rewards card and on the Travel Rewards card.  Keep in mind, you do need also a Bank of America checking account to qualify for Preferred Rewards.

Please do you own research or ask your financial advisers before making a change in your investment plans. It won’t be right for everyone, plus there are tax implications if not done properly (you need to ‘transfer in kind’ to avoid taxation event). We’ll add this to our List of Best Brokerage Bonuses.
