Saks Fifth Avenue has announced that the physical stores and eCommerce business will be separated, this will allow the online arm to raise money to fund it’s growth. WSJ is reporting that few changes will be seen by customers and they will be able to purchase online and pick up in store. Readers of this blog might be interested in this change due to the twice annual $50 American Express Platinum credits.
Based on my reading I doubt we will see any change to how those will work, as this is really just a way for investors to be able to invest in the online arm of the business without worrying about the physical brick and mortar business but it’s always possible that the way American Express has structed the contract that it could have an affect.
