- Current AAdvantage account balance must be greater than or equal to the amount of the promotion offer at the time of registration
- Award redemption will be processed immediately upon registration and cannot be reversed once processed
- Flight discount will be delivered to the email address associated with the redeeming member’s AAdvantage account within 72 hours of registration
- Flight discount is redeemable online at aa.com or by calling Reservations and may be used for travel by the member or for other travelers
- Flight discount is redeemable toward the initial electronic ticket purchase of air travel wholly on flights marketed and operated by American Airlines or on flights marketed by American Airlines and operated by its regional, oneworld® and codeshare partners
- Itineraries must be sold and originating in the U.S., Puerto Rico and/or U.S. Virgin Islands to redeem flight discount
- Flight discount is applied toward the purchase of base air fare and directly associated taxes, fees and charges that are collected as part of the fare calculation for travel
- If the ticket price is greater than the value of the flight discount, the difference must be paid only with a credit, debit or charge card or with American Airlines Gift Cards
- If the ticket price is less than the value of the flight discount, the residual balance of the discount will remain available for use through the end of its validity
- Flight discount may not be used for flight products or services that are sold separately or non-flight products or services sold by American Airlines
- Flight discount is non-refundable, may not be sold and has no cash redemption value
- Flight discount expires one year from date of issue
- Flight discount issued as part of this promotion is subject to the American Airlines flight discounts terms and conditions
- Award miles are subject to the standard AAdvantage® program terms and conditions
- American Airlines may, at any time and without notice, change, stop or end this promotion in part or in full
Our Verdict
Basically values miles at 1.25¢ each, but it does lock you into booking a flight in the near future. I think most people either value the miles more highly, or at least prefer the flexibility of not being locked in.
